HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION 
NWS ALASKA PACIFIC RIVER FORECAST CENTER ANCHORAGE AK

...FLOOD POTENTIAL... 

THE FLOOD POTENTIAL IS CURRENTLY LOW FOR THE ENTIRE STATE.

...HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION.... 

THE WEATHER IS FORECAST TO BE FAIRLY ACTIVE OVER WESTERN AND 
SOUTHERN ALASKA INTO NEXT WEEK... WITH SYSTEMS MOVING INTO THE 
WESTERN MAINLAND AND THEN DROPPING INTO THE GULF.  PRECIPITATION 
ASSOCIATED WITH THESE SYSTEMS SHOULD BE SNOW INLAND... WITH 
RAIN...FREEZING... OR MIXED PRECIPITATION ALONG THE SOUTHWEST 
COASTAL REGIONS.

...SNOW DEPTH...

REPORTED SNOW DEPTHS AROUND THE STATE RANGE FROM NO SNOW OVER 
SOUTHERN SOUTHEAST AND THE SOUTHWEST COASTAL REGIONS TO 36 INCHES IN 
THE HIGHER TERRAIN EAST OF FAIRBANKS.  A COUPLE OF PASSES IN THE 
BROOKS RANGE ARE REPORTING GREATER THAN 36 INCHES OF SNOW... ATIGUN 
PASS REPORTS 42 INCHES AND KILLIK PASS REPORTS 77 INCHES.

...ICE THICKNESS... 

ICE THICKNESS READINGS ARE TAKEN AT THE START OF THE MONTH ONCE THE 
ICE IS THICK ENOUGH TO SAFELY MEASURE.  THE ONLY ICE THICKNESS 
MEASUREMENT REPORTED FOR EARLY NOVEMBER WAS 12 INCHES AT COLVILLE 
VILLAGE.  

...LONG RANGE...

THE 6 TO 10 DAY TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK HAS INCREASED PROBABILITIES OF 
ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES OVER THE YUKON DELTA REGION AND THE 
WESTERN SEWARD PENINSULA... AND INCREASED PROBABILITIES OF BELOW 
NORMAL TEMPERATURES OVER MOST OF THE REST OF THE STATE. 

THE 6 TO 10 DAY PRECIPITATION OUTLOOK HAS INCREASED PROBABILITIES OF 
BELOW NORMAL PRECIPITATION OVER ROUGHLY THE EASTERN HALF OF THE 
MAINLAND AND OVER NORTHERN SOUTHEAST ALASKA.  THERE ARE INCREASED 
PROBABILITIES OF ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION OVER MOST OF THE WESTERN 
HALF OF THE MAINLAND.
